In short: since October 1, 2026, 1,000 Chase points from a Sapphire Preferred or Ink Business Preferred become 750 Hyatt points. The Sapphire Reserve still transfers 1 to 1. If someone in your household has a Reserve, move your points there first.
Moving Chase points to World of Hyatt used to be one for one on every card that could transfer. Not anymore.
What changed
- Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred: 1,000 Chase points now become 750 Hyatt points. New Preferred cardholders got this from June 15. Everyone else moved over on October 1.
- Sapphire Reserve (and the business Reserve): still 1,000 to 1,000.
- Every other Chase partner: no change.
What it costs, in real numbers
Take a hotel that costs 15,000 Hyatt points a night. From a Reserve that's 15,000 Chase points. From a Preferred it's 20,000. A three night stay goes from 45,000 to 60,000. Try your own stay:
The Preferred costs 0 more Chase points for the same 3 nights.
The math is the Hyatt price times 4, divided by 3. Every stay costs a third more Chase points than before:
| Hyatt points needed | From a Reserve | From a Preferred | Extra |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | 5,000 | 6,667 | 1,667 |
| 15,000 | 15,000 | 20,000 | 5,000 |
| 25,000 | 25,000 | 33,334 | 8,334 |
| 45,000 | 45,000 | 60,000 | 15,000 |
Transfers go in steps of 1,000 Chase points, so in practice you'll round up.
The way around it
Chase lets you move points freely between your own cards, and to one person in your household. So if you, or someone in your household, has a Sapphire Reserve, move the points there first and transfer from that card at 1 to 1.
If nobody does, a $795 card just for Hyatt transfers rarely makes sense. Compare the 4 to 3 price against paying cash or using points through Chase Travel.
Is Hyatt still worth it at 4 to 3?
Use the cents per point check with the Chase points it takes, not the Hyatt points. Example: a $400 night that costs 15,000 Hyatt points is about 2.7 cents per Chase point from a Reserve and 2 cents from a Preferred. Both still beat the 1 cent floor. A $200 night at the same price is 1.3 cents from a Reserve and 1 cent from a Preferred, which is no better than cash.
Bilt is next
Bilt also sends points to Hyatt at 1 to 1, but only until December 31. From January 1, 2027 it moves to 4 to 3 as well.
Before you transfer
- Find the room and the points price on Hyatt first. Transfers can't be undone.
- Check which card the points are sitting on. The ratio depends on the card, not on you.
